Hi! I believe that having trust and a connection with your counselor helps in your therapeutic process. So, thank you for taking the time to read my Bio!

I grew up in a diverse city in Southern California where I learned at an early age that people may seem different, but at our core we have commonalities.  My college experience started at the University of California, Santa Barbara where I played soccer for two seasons.  During my sophomore year, a leap of faith encouraged me to transfer across country to North Carolina State University where I finished my soccer career and completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology with a Coaching Minor. After graduation, I continued my studies at NC State, earning a Master of Education in College Counseling. This led me to become a National Certified Counselor in 2007 and Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in North Carolina in 2014. In 2023, I became a Licensed Professional Counselor in Georgia.

For the first seven years after graduating college, I had the fortunate opportunity to work with college athletes at NC State and Appalachian State University.  My focus was on improving their life skills and helping them navigate their academics. In 2012, I decided to put my professional career on hold to stay home with my children who were born in 2010, 2012, and 2016. Those seven years at home with my children taught me quite a bit about myself! I am still growing, but I am thankful to “Connected Families” for being such an invaluable resource for me ( https://connectedfamilies.org/).

In early 2019, I felt the desire to resume my counseling career. I received my Associate Professional Counselor (APC) in the state of Georgia in 2020. My journey working towards becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), which I received in 2023, solidified my desire to provide support for others who are experiencing challenging times in their life. My desire in counseling is to encourage you to strive towards your best you. I will come alongside you, listen to your life story, encourage you, and provide you tools to pursue your desired changes.

My skill set includes working with such challenges as life adjustments, depression, anxiety, body image, co-dependence, parenting, setting healthy boundaries, relationship issues, Christian beliefs, personal growth, athletics, marital concerns, and motherhood. I am also trained as a PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator (08/2017). Some techniques I enjoy using are positive psychology, solution-focus therapy, acceptance-commitment theory, cognitive behavioral therapy, narrative therapy, attachment theory, and internal family systems. I believe health comes from multiple components in our life. Interpersonal relationships, family of origin, physical activity, nutrition, creative expression, and spirituality are my areas of focus.

Life can be complicated and take you through a full range of emotions. It is helpful to process this difficult journey with another person. Talking with a trained counselor about where you have been, where you are now, and where you want to be in the future will assist you in your journey. Being a mother has opened my eyes to the value of coming alongside and believing in a person’s potential.  My desire is to work with individuals who want to make a change: mothers, parents, teens, young professionals, individuals, couples, or families.  It would be an honor to sit with you and hear your story.  I look forward to helping you see the strength that is within you as you walk the path to a brighter future.
